Your salary and your employment dates are sensitive. This page sets out, without hedging, where they go. Reviewed 2026-09-19.
Nothing you type into the calculator is transmitted anywhere. There is no form submission, no server call, no database and no logging of your figures. The arithmetic happens in JavaScript on your own device. We could not tell you what you earn even if a court asked us, because we never receive it.
Why the site is built that way
A tool that asks for your basic wage, your employer, your dates and the reason your job ended is holding the raw material of an employment dispute. Plenty of similar tools collect exactly that and treat it as a sales lead. We took the view that the only defensible design is one where the data never exists on our side at all — not encrypted, not retained briefly, not held. It is not collected.
That decision also removes most of what a privacy notice usually has to explain. What follows is short because there is little to describe.
Where your entries actually live
Your most recent entries are written to your browser's own local storage, under keys that begin eos:, purely so that reloading the page does not force you to retype everything. That store belongs to your browser on that device. It is readable only by pages on this domain, it is not synchronised to us or to anyone, and it is not readable by advertisers.
Two ways to clear it: press Start again on the calculator, or clear site data in your browser. On a shared machine, or an employer-owned laptop, pressing Start again before you walk away is worth the two seconds — bear in mind that an employer-managed device may be subject to monitoring we have no visibility of and no control over.
What reaches our side
Requesting a page from a web server necessarily reveals something, and it would be dishonest to imply otherwise. Our host keeps the usual access log: requesting IP, timestamp, which page, where the request came from, and the string the browser identifies itself by. These exist to keep the site running and to absorb abuse. They are not assembled into a profile, they are not sold, and there is no key that could join a log line to anything typed into the calculator, because the calculator emits nothing to join it to.
Measurement
No analytics are running on this site at present. Should that change, the provider will be named on this page before a single measurement is taken, and the choice will be one that reports totals — pages, referrers, rough country — without following individuals between sites.
Advertising
The site carries no advertising today. The terms below are published now, ahead of time, so that advertising could not appear one morning alongside a policy quietly rewritten to permit it.
If and when Google AdSense serves adverts here, the following applies. Google, as a third-party vendor, uses cookies to serve ads on this site. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the Internet. You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Ads Settings, or opt out of a third-party vendor's use of cookies for personalised advertising at aboutads.info. Google describes its own practices at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
The wording of that paragraph is close to Google's own published form because publishers are required to disclose it in those terms. It is deliberate, not copied from elsewhere on the web.
An advertiser never sees your figures. They are not sent to us, so there is nothing to pass on, and the browser storage described above is inaccessible to any script served from another domain.
If you are in the UK, the EEA or Switzerland
Where the law requires prior consent for advertising cookies, a Google-certified consent management platform will ask for it before any such cookie is written, and the same notice lets you change your mind afterwards. Cookies strictly necessary for the site to function, and the local storage described above, do not depend on that consent.
Two grounds are relied on: your consent, which covers advertising cookies and any storage that is not strictly necessary, and our legitimate interest in keeping the site up, keeping it secure, and answering people who write in. You may ask us what we hold on you, require it to be put right or erased, and take a complaint to the supervisory authority in your country. In practice there is very little to ask about — no accounts, no sign-up, no forms — so a message you chose to send us is realistically the only personal data we will ever have.
Email you send us
A message to [email protected] is kept while we are dealing with it and for a reasonable period afterwards, in case the matter comes back. Your address is not added to any list — there is no list — and is not passed to anyone.
Children
The subject matter is adult employment law and the site is not aimed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from them.
Revisions
This page is dated, and a revised version carries a new date. Anything material — a first analytics provider, a first advertising partner — is written here before it goes live rather than after.
